Where to work in Palma de Mallorca

Better known for its beach and party scenes than working culture, Palma de Mallorca, was actually a very good place to set a temporary base from.

Although we somehow managed to book the one week that thirty years of rain was hitting the Balearic Islands, there was still plenty of fun to be had and discoveries to be made. From conferences to secret silent discos and a couple of lovely places to set up the laptop for a couple of hours.

If I’m honest, I’d actually planned more for staying in on the terrace of my Airbnb, which had a lovely paradise away from the hustle and bustle vibe. On the last week of a contract it felt important to be able to stay in a place with consistent wifi.

However as the weather dictated, being outdoors was not easy for a lot of the week, and so after a couple of days in the Airbnb all day, it felt more than necessary to get out and about exploring different parts of the Old Town with a coffee. Including:

Rawcoco

Yes, I found the chain in Palma, right around the corner from my Airbnb and so it had to be the first place I went to when I arrived in town and the next day for a birthday breakfast. With great wifi connection, easy access and fresh food, I even enticed a couple of content creators to join me for a visit before we left.

Arabay

A little further down from Rawcoco, and with a little more of a typical Spanish flavour (coffee and food), the Arabay atmosphere was perfect for a morning session of emails and content catch up.

Just off the Plaça Mayor, it was well-situated for anyone staying in the Old Town.

Brunch It

Conveniently next door to Arabay, Brunch It was a much beloved spot by many of the content creators that were in town for a conference that week. Perhaps a bit easier to use if you have a wifi hotspot, the coffee was still fab and the pastries yummy. So still worth putting on the list for a ‘have you really been, if you haven’t posted about it’ moment.

Santina

Recommended by someone staying in my Airbnb, this was a little further out of the Old Town. But if you tied it in with visits to the windmills of El Jonquet, then it became a fabulous afternoon adventure.

Some healthy eats, great coffee and strong wifi, Santina was worth the extra few steps. Especially with a friend - thanks for joining the adventure Holly (from Budget Bon Voyage).

While a lot of Mallorca was actually closed for the season, Palma made for a surprisingly great winter destination. Especially to see some Christmas lights in milder weather, so if that sounds like a bit of you, I would highly recommend putting this one on your list.

Hasta pronto!

Han x
